Review: One Thread Pulled

One Thread Pulled: The Dance with Mr. DarcyOne Thread Pulled: The Dance with Mr. Darcy by Diana J. Oaks
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I started reading this as a fanfiction on fanfiction.net quite some time ago and at first I didn't expect much. There are quite a few stories that are inspired by the concept of changing a detail or two of Pride and Prejudice, but this one is definitely my favorite of them.

Ms. Oaks manages to write in a style that feels like it is contemporary to Jane Austen and includes many cultural details from the period that I appreciated. In addition, no character is ignored in her story. If anything the flatter characters from Pride and Prejudice are more fully developed and she doesn't write in an overly partial manner about anyone.

While a part of me is wary of spending money for a fanfiction, this is excellently written and feels like Ms. Oaks put in the time to research everyone's situations properly. I will certainly consider purchasing it in the future because it is something that I would enjoy reading again.

If you're at all interested you can read a sample, the first three chapters if I'm not mistaken, on fanfiction.net, here.
